Training

What about training?

There is a mandatory training course available to all workers before starting shifts. We also offer the opportunity to take on further learning, in order to enhance your knowledge and skills in your career. A licensed and moderated trainer will provide centre approved certificates in the following areas:

Basic First Aid and Life Support

Basic life support describes a set of basic life saving first aid techniques. The UK’s Resuscitation Council has produced a set of guidelines for first aiders to consider when administering Basic life support. These are: safe management of an incident, dealing with an unresponsive breathing casualty (the recovery position) or dealing with an unresponsive non-breathing casualty (CPR).

Safeguarding Training

Safeguarding adults is all about the safety and well-being of all patients, but also ensuring that the worker provides additional measures for those receiving health and social care that are least able to protect themselves from harm or abuse. This information is crucial and is considered required knowledge for those that expect to deliver high quality care.

Nutrition and Fluids

This covers the importance of nutrition and fluids in a care scenario and how to monitor, document and administer these values to better understand how these values impact an individual’s wellbeing.

Fire safety and Fire Marshalling

This training covers how to act during a fire, what is expected of the worker, what their priorities should be and how to conduct themselves in the case of a fire evacuation.

Moving and Handling

Moving and handling is essentially when working within health and social care, the worker will encounter a lot of moving, lifting or otherwise manually handling people in their care or other objects/equipment. The worker will be taught the correct way to do so as to not injure themselves or others around you.

Understanding your Role, Personal Development and Duty of Care

This is a training course that covers what your role as carer of the vulnerable entails, and what is expected of you in health and social care settings. It also covers how workers in the care setting can have an impact and what their duty of care as an active employee would be.

GDPR

The General Data Protection Regulation or the GDPR is a European Union legal instrument ensuring the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data. The training will highlight the importance of this, how to avoid data breaches and keep data protected, as well as highlighting what is considered sensitive data.
